Ri-zound'

Jane Pitt’s Ri-zound’ took the festival to the river with 100 floating Medway voices resounding aboard the Kingswear Castle Paddle Steamer. Experiencing their hometowns with fresh eyes and ears directly from the river this buoyant choir celebrated and vocalised the sounds and rhythms of the River Medway that underscore their everyday lives. Recorded & photographed live; edited sounds and images of this festive voyage (photographed by Mike Snarr mikesnarr.com & Sara Norling saranorling.com) were installed inside the unique Kent Cultural Baton silver airstream caravan (designed by artist Nicole Mollet www.kentculturalbaton.com) for everyone to enjoy over the FUSE Festival June 2012. Documentation can also be found in the Medway section (pp66-67) of the Atlas of Kent by Nicole Mollett, a beautiful publication that maps snapshots of the Kent Cultural Baton's voyage & associated projects that led up to London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic games.
